Win 10 Instability?

Unread postby tom_tm » Sat Jun 03, 2017 12:13 pm

Hi,
I have some stability problems of Clarisse at least from version 3.0 (older Versions not tested). Especially if you load
bigger amounts of alembic data and scrub the timeline. It sometimes crashes by navigating arround or also while it's rendering.
The crash notifier says there is a problem with visual stuido 2015.
How can I generate a informative dump file for you?
If I start Clarisse on Win 10 Pro with compatibility mode set to Win 7, it runs stable, but some operations like loading
content or scattering operations are much much slower than under Win10

Hello,

I would be curious if anything can be done on our user side to collect useful data for that kind of crash.
I usually try (since a couple of version) to not navigate in the image view, because I know I would crash Clarisse in the minute. It seems very random, so I can't create a step by step bug report.

An other area is the color picker, abruptly changing color while the image view is rendering is a little bit unstable too. Clarisse seems so aggressive for applying the color change that 'she' is killing herself in the process.

Please help us helping you 8-)

Paq,
so do you also run Win 10 64? Navigating the image view especially zooming is a thrilling task.
I looks like there is something with loading assets into the scene.

Hi Tom,

Yes Win10-64.
My home computer is much more unstable than my office one (hand made crap pc vs HP Z840).

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

About your first question, it's not possible to generate a dump file on windows.

We are trying to reproduce your problem about this instability on Windows 10. However it's not recommended to run Clarisse in compatibility mode. That can cause some performance problem.

Cheers,

Hi Florent,
it happens at least more often if I chose all threads for evaluation, in my caste Core i7 with 6 Cores 12 Threads.
In the service manager it always shows the same after application crash:

Just an additional question.
Soon, with the new Xeons coming, I'm planning to build a new system. The question, Win10 or 7.
Does someone at Isotropix running Win 10 64 stable or is it only my actual system crashing with the error mentioned above?

Thanks Tom

Hi,

I'm using 3 different win 10 64 PCs (2 I7 and one dual xeon) without experiencing this..

Hi Tom,

Actually all our demo laptop have Windows 10 installed. However, I don't recall we have Quadros on it and I know from a fact that Clarisse plays funny with Quadros (not GTX) on Windows for some unknown reasons.
