B-Revenge

Unread postby paq » Thu Mar 31, 2016 3:16 pm

Hello,

Here's a recent project I've been working on, with the help of Francesco Lorenzetti (Original Concept and Additional Modeling).
Rendered in one shot in Clarisse, with a bit of CC in Photoshop.

Even the sky is a big stretched openvdb, completely useless but it works pretty well :)

Cheers.

Pascal.

Can I ask, what sort of rendertime this image needed? Maybe you can explain a bit more about what you did to make this.
Really awesome work!

Hello,

Thanks for the commets guys !

Hi jhn,

Any final images I render with Clarisse (for personal work) takes 12 hours on a i7 6cores, because that's the time I'm allowed to give (overnight rendering) ... so I'm not really sure this number makes a lot of cense, because you can finish with a fraction of this rendertime with a clever optimization job.

As for the the image itself there is nothing 'special', I import my models + vdb.
There as multiple point cloud / scatterer on the spaceship, an env light + hdr, and a Gi light.
And of course a volumetric fog box for the atmosphere 8-)

Hi Paq !
Awesome image, congratz !

Tell me something: no directional light on this image ? You did all this shadow and lit with the hdr only ?
thanks

Hi norbertoritter,

Yes, direct shadow are coming from an .hdr (from Terragen), mapped on the env.light.
There is no need for a directional light this way.

It's also possible to disable the sun disk when creating a 360sky in Terragen, and use a distant light for the sun.
