Difference in refraction ?

Unread postby tenek » Mon Mar 12, 2018 8:49 am

Hi. Im have water running into a bowl, my output anim flicker alot. There is a difference in the refraction i think.
Enclosed is frame 204 and 203, as an example from my output sequence. What is causing this behavior. How do I avoid this difference in the render ?

Hi,
refraction is meant to change but this seems a bit odd. Would you be able to upload the scene by any chance ?
This would allow us to check the geo and settings.

Cheers,

Hi !

Thanks for sending your scene. Looks like a problem with your geo.
If you check out your object from the inside, some frames have a double layer some don't.

Thanx again Greg.
It’s strange That houdini will generate That kind of mest using
the output alembic and dont stay consistent.. considering all is created with shelf tools inside houdini.
Probly something I missed...

Hey Tenek,

not sure why this would happen in Houdini but, in Clarisse, for the dieletric mtl to work properly you want to avoid having a thickness.
That's why frame 234 looks ok and 235 looks odd. Good luck ! Please update us with your findings, there might be something we can all learn from !

Cheers,
Greg
