Displacement map on UV's not working

Hello everybody,

I'm new to Clarisse and I'm having an issue with getting the displacement map (sculpted in zbrush on the UV's, so not a tileable displacement) to work on my character.
I tried to follow the steps in this tutorial: https://xuan-prada-jbfz.squarespace.com ... =texturing
But it doesn't seem to work for my map and model.

I referenced my character as an alembic and I'm using a .tif displacement map
I turned on the 'force luminance' option in my displacement map and turned on the 'use raw data' option.
I also put the bound of the displacement node on 1, 1, 1, put the displacement map in the front value and put the front offset on 0.5
I also subdivided the model 1 time in open Subdiv and put the displacement adaptive span count to 500 (just to test).

I read on some other threads that people say 'use the reorder node and put it on rrrr or r000'.
I don't know what they mean by that and I'm not sure how to do that and how to link it in the displacement shader correctly?

Hi,

What is not working ? Do you have weird displacement ? Do you have no displacement ?

Your settings are good, does the snapshot of your texture come from Clarisse ? You can check if your textures are well interpreted by selecting them and open the texture view widget.

Last question, do you assign the displacement node to your geometry ? (just in case :mrgreen: )

Steps :
- Create a displacement node
- Assign it to your geo (drag n drop or through the material linker)
- Import your texture and set it as you did (and check it in the texture view)
- Connect the texture map to the displacement node
- Adjust subdivision on your model

It should work

Hi,

I get no displacement at all with this map and the way I work with it as explained.

The snapshot was taken just from the image viewer on my pc but it looks the same in Clarisse when I double click on that texture.

Yes I have assigned the displacement node to the mesh.
When I try the displacement with a tileable displacement from the internet and just with triplanar projection it works fine but with displacement that is actually made for the mesh on the UV's it doens't work (at least not the same way for me).
Do I maybe need to isolate the red channel of my texture and only add that to the mesh? (the displacement texture does work that way in Maya).

Is there a specific way to export textures from zbrush to make them work in Clarisse?
I'm not sure if the issue is the way I set up the material in Clarisse or maybe the texture itself but it doesn work in other 3D software.

Hi,

I managed to get the displacement to work.
Apparently I forgot to export my UV's in the alembic file...
I'm sorry for the silly issue haha, it works fine now :)
