It would have the following structure:

This would allow us to make standardized changes to the scene structure that could be shared, easily quality controlled, visible in a single location, simplify scene structures (because we could have a simple layout that is modified at run-time with a single set of layered rules instead of building complex hierarchies), and so on. Essentially it would allow us to modify the parameters of any object just before the renderer gets its hands on the scene.
