Dear Clarisse users,

We're very pleased to release Clarisse Olympus R1g!

Olympus can't run in PLE mode and require a valid maintenance license. More importantly Olympus R1 requires a Clarisse BUiLDER license and won't run using a Clarisse iFX license.

As always, you will find our software in the download area but before downloading the software, make sure to read the following DISCLAIMER.

WE STRONGLY DISCOURAGE YOU TO USE THESE DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOT BUILDS IN PRODUCTION. WE WON'T PROVIDE ANY PATCHES/FIXES UNLESS YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC SUPPORT CONTRACT WITH ISOTROPIX.
FOR PRODUCTION USE, WE RECOMMEND YOU TO USE THE LATEST 3.6 OR 4.0 SERVICE PACK (SP) AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOTS DON'T PASS THE SAME CAREFUL QA PROCESS AS OF OUR NUMBERED PRODUCTION RELEASES (IE 3.6 OR 4.0). THEY ARE THEN CONSIDERED UNSTABLE. THESE BUILDS SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR TESTING. THEY ARE MEANT SO THAT YOU CAN EXPERIENCE WHAT'S COMING NEXT, ANTICIPATE PIPELINE CHANGES WHEN NECESSARY AND MORE IMPORTANTLY PROVIDE US YOUR CRUCIAL FEEDBACK ON SOME PART OF THE WORKFLOW THAT WILL BE COMING IN THE NEXT MAJOR VERSION OF OUR SOFTWARE. AS SUCH, SOME PART OF THE WORKFLOW INTRODUCED IN THIS RELEASE MAY CHANGE OR EVEN BE COMPLETELY REMOVED ACCORDING TO YOUR FEEDBACK. IN OTHER WORDS YOU MAY EXPECT SOME COMPATIBILITY ISSUES BETWEEN DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOTS.

Olympus is currently VFX Reference Platform CY2018 compliant.

Enjoy!

What's new in Clarisse iFX Olympus R1g:

New Features and Enhancements
Geometry
  • Changed shading group names in USD Bundles in order to match kinematic hierarchy as in Alembic Bundles. (#10233)
  • USD Point Instancers are now supported in Reference contexts and USD Bundles. (#10069)
  • It is now possible to make USD Reference contexts local and to copy/paste USD items out of Reference contexts. (#10056)
  • USD cube and sphere prims are now supported when referencing USD scenes in Clarisse. (#10035)
  • Added support for point instancers in USD references. (#10034)
  • When referencing USD scenes in Clarisse, instanceable USD references are now loaded as instances of USD Bundles. This should significantly speed up loading time when referencing a USD stage with many instanceable References. (#9669)

Bug Fixes
Geometry
  • Loading USD stages containing geometries with more than one UV map doesn't crash anymore. (#10466)
  • Fixed a performance regression that happened with some USD stages (namely stages with no authored animation range and lots of small objects) (#10438)
  • Fixed shading group loading in USD references and bundles. Loading UV maps is also more robust as it now checks for the TextureCoordinate USD role name in attributes. (#10390)
  • Animated USD Bundles are now properly loaded when the current time is not 0. (#10029)
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when loading an empty geometry in a USD Bundle. This could happen when loading heterogeneously deformed geometries. (#10223)
  • Fixed the up axis when layering multiple stages, either in Reference contexts or in USD Bundles. (#10176)
  • When importing USD scenes, Z-up is now correctly handled in USD Bundles and Reference contexts. (#10100)
  • Resync Resources now works properly on USD Reference contexts. (#10092)
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when deleting the last USD Bundle in the current session when there is still some Alembic Bundles (or vice versa). (#9617)
