Dear Clarisse users,

We're very pleased to release Clarisse Olympus R1j!

Olympus can't run in PLE mode and require a valid maintenance license. More importantly Olympus R1 requires a Clarisse BUiLDER license and won't run using a Clarisse iFX license.

As always, you will find our software in the download area but before downloading the software, make sure to read the following DISCLAIMER.

WE STRONGLY DISCOURAGE YOU TO USE THESE DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOT BUILDS IN PRODUCTION. WE WON'T PROVIDE ANY PATCHES/FIXES UNLESS YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC SUPPORT CONTRACT WITH ISOTROPIX.
FOR PRODUCTION USE, WE RECOMMEND YOU TO USE THE LATEST 3.6 OR 4.0 SERVICE PACK (SP) AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOTS DON'T PASS THE SAME CAREFUL QA PROCESS AS OF OUR NUMBERED PRODUCTION RELEASES (IE 3.6 OR 4.0). THEY ARE THEN CONSIDERED UNSTABLE. THESE BUILDS SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR TESTING. THEY ARE MEANT SO THAT YOU CAN EXPERIENCE WHAT'S COMING NEXT, ANTICIPATE PIPELINE CHANGES WHEN NECESSARY AND MORE IMPORTANTLY PROVIDE US YOUR CRUCIAL FEEDBACK ON SOME PART OF THE WORKFLOW THAT WILL BE COMING IN THE NEXT MAJOR VERSION OF OUR SOFTWARE. AS SUCH, SOME PART OF THE WORKFLOW INTRODUCED IN THIS RELEASE MAY CHANGE OR EVEN BE COMPLETELY REMOVED ACCORDING TO YOUR FEEDBACK. IN OTHER WORDS YOU MAY EXPECT SOME COMPATIBILITY ISSUES BETWEEN DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENT SNAPSHOTS.

Olympus is currently VFX Reference Platform CY2018 compliant.

Enjoy!

What's new in Clarisse iFX Olympus R1j:

New Features and Enhancements
General UI
  • In the Search Widget, it is now possible to search using context types. For example, if searching for "merge", it will now lists all the contexts of type Merge. (#10622)
Geometry
  • Disabled Alembic auto-reload in CNode to reduce project loading times and unnecessary reloads before the render can start. Indeed, in some situations, the Alembic file could have only its modification date modified but not its contents. In such situations, it is unnecessary to reload the file but CNode would reload it anyways. Now you must take care of such reloads in Clarisse before sending the project to CNode.

In addition to this, the existing log messages warning about missing Alembic objects or Alembic objects that failed to load have been raised to Error level. Therefore, you can use the CNode option "-fatal_level Error" to catch such errors earlier. (#10609)

Bug Fixes
Build View
  • Fixed a crash that could happen when copy-pasting nodes from a Build View to another. (#10644)
  • Fix a crash that occurred when deleting a dot and its input altogether. (#10646)
Geometry
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when scattering imported Alembic meshes with per instance time variations. (#10628)
Scene Assembly
  • Fixed instabilities when manipulating Contexts at the build level (like deleting multiple Contexts and undoing the action, or when moving a Context from the build into another Context). (#10631)
  • Fixed instabilities when disabling Scene Assembly nodes, or when disabling items inside an Edit node. (#10629)
  • Fixed a crash that could happen when empty Switch nodes are connected as input of Merge nodes. (#10624)
  • Fixed a crash when plugging an Extract node outputting an object which is not a camera in the Camera attribute of a RenderScene. (#10612)
