PhysicalStandard weird SSS with normal map

Unread postby monkeybrain » Mon Aug 07, 2017 5:02 pm

Hi there.

While playing with the 3.5 release I stumbled upon a weird behaviour of the physicalStandard material.
If you connect a normal map to the general normal input of the material and change any scale parameter of the SSS, the shading gives some strange results. Plugging that same map into the Diffuse Normal input of the material, the shader behaves as expected. This looks buggy to me.

Cheers,
Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Unfortunately, we haven't reproduced your issue. Could you send us a simple project ?

Hi.

I've attached two images showing the problem. I've tried to pack everything important into the screens. The only difference between those two rendering is that the normal map is also connected to the diffuse normal input plug of the standard material.
I hope this makes it clear what I mean.

Cheers,
Tobias
