Osl shader

Unread postby jucamal23 » Fri Dec 16, 2022 9:33 am

Hi!!

I am trying to use the osl nodes to create a shader. And I am having a issue (maybe is my ignorance). I create a disney_principed material and a osl script shader (the most basic). I can't connect between them to each other, once I drag from the output of the osl node the disney_principed node goes grey. I tried also with autodesk and materialX materials.

I saw that the output of the osl node is blue, and the input of the materials are red. But I don't know how to make them compatible.

I attach a gif to show you what is going on.

Thanks a lot!!!!

Hello, I think you are using the wrong nodes unfortunately. Be careful to use all nodes categorized under OSL > Materials or OSL > Shaders. The OSL Script and OSL File are for the Clarisse renderer, not Angie.

No, you can eitheir copy paste into the scripted material or add your osl files in a folder so that they are read and added to the library, see more here : https://clarissewiki.com/5.5_early_access/angie-writing-osl-shaders.html?anchor=extendingoslnodelibrary

I recommend you read the doc if you want to use custom shaders as we provide advices, tips and tricks in there ;)

Cheers!

Hi Now I have a set of custom osl nodes . It is really amazing the way to do it. Thanks

But I have a question. Now I need to get the uv set 6 from my model. but I can't find the node to do it . In clarisse 5 I used the extract property node. But now with this node it is impossible to connect to my custom nodes. I tried with the get_property but with this node I can't see the uv6 like with the extract property node.

I attached an image how I did with extract property node.

Thanks

Hey!

Once again, you have to use the OSL nodes, not the Clarisse ones, so it's the OSLGetProperty ;)

Hi,

Yes I know, maybe I explained wrong. I tried with the get property but I can't find the uv6. or I don't know how to do it

At the image you can see all the properties that I can get, and there it is not any of the uv set that has the model ( from uv0 to uv7)

Sorry, and thanks
