Layout shading nodes in Material Editor

Unread postby ImreLovasz » Fri Jan 21, 2022 7:39 pm

Hi,

Working on automated scene generation, and I'd like to arrange the nodes when the scene building's done.
We can use the Layout action in the Material Editor in interactive session, so I'm wondering if we can access the same functionality from Python.
The Log window just prints SetItemsPositions command with the already calculated result, which is obviously specific to the given network.

Thanks in advance,
Imre

Hi,

Unfortunately there's no way currently to programmatically control material editor's layout from Python.
Would you mind creating a feature request ticket in the feature tracker, with a description of exactly what you would need?

Regards,
Damien.

Hi Damien,

Thanks for the reply!
It's not a showstopper, and it seems it's not been raised before, so I guess there's virtually no demand for Material Editor automation.
I think I just let it go.

Thanks,
Imre
