Reading out particle IDs

Unread postby tsn » Mon May 25, 2020 10:01 am

Hello everyone,

I want to ask if particles, created by a script and added to a container, do contain IDs by default or do they have to be assigned/created manually? If they actually exist, is there way to read out this information through Python? If not the question is how can I create such an attribute (I know how to assign vector data like position, normals, etc., but couldn't find a counterpart for scalars (struggling a bit with the SDK, so sorry ) ). Thanks!

I just stumbled upon the "Creating point clouds properties" section in the SDK and that's exactly what I was looking for. Anyway, the question if particle do get an Id at creation time is still valid.

Hi,

You'll have to create the ID property yourself, like in the SDK tutorial.
