I missed the fact that my claim is having an absolute expression, sorry for the confusion.
My information is basically from here and assumed it would be part of the 4.0 cycle viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3926
I should stop answering forum posts while on the transit train, did adjust my original claim.

Cheers

PS:
I heard you release 4.0 tomorrow yes ? :D just kidding ..

Hahaha :)

Actually that talk was about the future of Clarisse (generally speaking) and not necessarily limited to what's coming to 4.0. I can see why it could led you to confusion. Maybe I wasn't clear enough even if I avoid mentioning 4.0 in the talk title. Actually I want to do more of that type of talks showing stuffs we are working which may or may not be released in the next major version (or maybe even never be released). These talks are really important for us as we gather very good feedback of what we should or shouldn't push for. The help us adjust the direction we are heading to.

All joking aside - somehow I did see a preview of GPU accelerated viewport and playblast. Don't remember where - might have been FMX, might have been my dreams, doesn't matter. But I did see it, so that makes it at least 2 dudes :p

Hahahahaha

Actually if you google you may find some presentations we did about it at GTC2018 and SIGGRAPH2018.
over 100 FPS on the mini ride scene in 4K....

Checking the other thread Threadripper sounds really awesome. However for home use I don't have budget to go higher than 2920x. A lot of reviews suggested i9 would be better in that case. Thought please?

Hi,

i9 is better in games and single core calculation however :

amd 2920x +/- 699€
24 threads * 3.5Ghz = 84

intel i9 7900X +/- 1049€
20 threads * 3.3Ghz = 66

I took base speed for each processor, no turbo or overclocking taken in the calculation.
Other specs may vary those results but the difference is so huge that there is no doubt that you will have more velocity for less money with AMD in Clarisse.

Thank you dboude. Looking into more reviews, looks like for our purposes, and especially on our Linux, AMD is the way to go.
