Just adding to this, what if we want to export the entire simulated groom from xgen into clarisse?

Any ideas how to get this out of maya? I know this is more of a Maya question really..

Thanks

Hi Dane,

I did it with scripts.

The first one export each frame as Mel files
The second one imports each Mel files, add the riCurve attribute and export them as ABC.
Finally, I used an ABC stitcher to stitch all ABC files into one, in order to let Clarisse compute the Motion Vectors. (I used the one which comes with RealFlow. You can install the trial version and you will access to the stitcher executable, on windows at least...)

It's an incredibly heavy process but it works.

Good Luck

Cheers ;)

I'm giving this a test now, seems 1 frame of mel fur takes about 3 minutes to export and is 1.3gb in size.

I've got 5 animated creatures so just the mel alone would take days to export for a 150 frame animation and I'd end up with almost 1TB of mel files to then turn into alembic. I dont think this would be ideal.

The issue is we want to have dynamic fur, which is working fine in xgen/maya right now but I was doing the fur originally using the guides from xgen and populating the fur in clarisse as mentioned in this post. Now the curves are dynamic the sampling is all over the place so the fur will jump about quite drastically.

Any ways around this?

Hi,

Any chance to share a sample of the project ? It seems to be buggy.

Cheers
