MapFile Exr multilayered

Unread postby fmonster » Thu Dec 02, 2021 9:56 am

Hello,
Is there's a way, like in Nuke with the shuffle node, to extract a layer from a mapfile ?
If you have a texture with multiple layers for example, to choose one of the layers to extract and apply to a shader ?

Thank you !

maybe the reorder node could help you.
if you write f. e. your roughness map in the red channel, use reorder rrr,
f. e. disp in the green channel reorder ggg etc.

Hello, this could work if the layer had only one channel information I think no ?
If any of the layers has the 3 color channels by itself, it wouldn't work isn't it ?

Hi. my workflow is like this . (maps are from substance painter) f. e.
Red channel has the roughness map
green channel has the bump map
blue channel has disp map
so with the reorder node I shuffle the channel I need. rrr for roughness map, ggg for bump etc.
hope this helps

Hi, thanks a lot Jstein.
Yes I completely see the workflow and I also use it like this sometimes yes.

In my case, I have for example a renderImage reprojected with his own AOVs. So all the Aovs have 3 channels.
Instead exporting all the layers/AOVS separately, the Exr contains all of them. As in nuke we can shuffle a file like this to extract the RGBA of any AOVs, maybe there is a way to also do this in Clarisse. This way would be convenient to prepare any setup of AOVs and AOVs store's afterwards.

Hi Frederic,

Indeed you can't store 3 channels AOVs in a single channel like R.

I tried to replicate in the simplest way the scene you describe in your feature request (that I'll close as it's more appropriate to discuss here or on Discord) with a Map from a render inside Clarisse on a plane in a different context (that would be for you the matte painting re projected).
Then I put that background geo on a layer in my Image, and all the others geos on a foreground layer of its own too. That way you can add differents AOVs or LPE on each layer and Clarisse will render both layers with the said AOVs to rebuild in comp.

I'm not sure that's what you expect, so I attach the file for you to take a look and ask questions again.

Cheers!

I also think that the reorder node could help you.
