Hi,

Tried to import my plotted simulation into Clarisse.

You can download the .ABC file here and see what it should look like here.

Problems:



- Objects are positioned incorrectly
- There is no animation at all

I've checked the file in trial version of Modo and everything was imported correctly.
Please, advise.

Thanks for the files. We haven't managed to reproduce your issue. The dress is animated such as the reference video you've provided.

Have you used: File > Import > Geometry... or File > Import > Scene.... in order to import the ABC?
You need to know that there is a big difference between the two:

If you import your ABC using File > Import > Geometry, you don't get animation or transform. You just import plain geometries.
If you want to import animations, deformations and geometries from an ABC you must use File > Import > Scene

But still, when importing this .ABC file as static geo, object positions are incorrect (look at the torso, for example, it should be much higher). Is this also normal?

Alembic static import was designed to be used as a replacement to the OBJ format, containing only one scene item without animation.. if the file contain more than one mesh , clarisse consider it to be a scene, and "import scene" must be used, even if the objects are static (it will also preserve parent/children hierarchy information).

If object positions are incorrect it's simply because their base positions in the file are. In your example we clearly see the torso model being at (0,0,0). If a geometry isn't deformed, the ABC exporter will output motion information instead of baking vertex positions at each frame. This way the ABC is way smaller.

When you import ABC geometries in Clarisse object transformations are skipped: they are set to identity: (0,0,0) (0,0,0) (1,1,1)
