Hey guys,

I just installed the PLE version of Clarisse 2.0 SP7 on Mac but when I start it I get this error:

Couldn't initialize Python engine. Please check if:
00:00:03 - Python is properly installed.
00:00:03 - PYTHONHOME and PYTHONPATH environment variables are properly set in clarisse.env file.
00:00:03 For more information please refer to the user manual in Configuration and Environment section.
00:00:03

I apologize if this is an incredibly stupid post but I do not know how to solve it.

I did download the latest Python version but problem occurred before/after.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

In your clarisse.env, could you try to set paths:
PYTHONHOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6
PYTHONPATH=/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib

Please note that Clarisse iFX 2.0 sp7 needs Python 2.6

Regards

Hi,

I have the same problem. Excuse my ignorance but how do I edit the clarisse.env ?

I know where the file is located but can't seem to edit it.

Thanks,
Bronic

Hi Bronic,

Your clarisse.env file is located in ~/Library/Preferences/Isotropix/Clarisse/clarisse.env.
Changing these paths should resolve your python issue!

Cheers !

Hi,

Could you check if python is already installed in your system?
To do that, simply open a new terminal then run the following command:
Code: Select all
python

If python is installed, you will see the python version and the release date of python. Now you have to find the python path, write the following code in the terminal running python (one line at a time):

python code

import sys
print "\n".join(sys.path)

The result will be several lines, you have to find a line starting by something like:

python code

c:\Python27

This is the path of python that clarisse have to use. You have now to edit the clarisse.env file, by default the env file is set to:
Code: Select all
%APPDATA%/Isotropix/Clarisse/clarisse.env

Inside of it you should have something like this:
Code: Select all
PYTHONHOME=Your_Python_Path
PYTHONPATH=Your_Python_Path/lib

Set the PYTHONHOME and PYTHONPATH variable like shown up by replacing "Your_Python_Path". for me it is:
Code: Select all
PYTHONHOME=c:\Python27
PYTHONPATH=C:\Python27\Lib;C:\Python27\DLLs;C:\Python27\Lib\lib-tk

If python is not installed then you have to install python separately: https://www.python.org/downloads/
Make sure to check the option to Install it for All Users
Now try to open clarisse, if it still doesn't work do the step I write on the top of the post.

Tell us if there is still an issue.

Regards,

I got the same issue, I downloaded the Clarisse iFX 3.0 SP7 64-bit for MAC

What I've done so far is first check if python Is installed and which version: when I type in the Terminal python I get this:
Python 2.7.10 (default, Jul 30 2016, 19:40:32)

When I print I get the paths:
>>> print "\n".join(sys.path)

/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python27.zip
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-darwin
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-mac
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-mac/lib-scriptpackages
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-tk
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-old
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload
/Library/Python/2.7/site-packages
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/Extras/lib/python
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/Extras/lib/python/PyObjC

Then the only place I can find a env file is when I right click on my Clarisse (at application) and click on Show Package Contents, then I can click on Contents >MacOS>and then there is the env file, but my question is is this the file to edit? I've tried it with no results.

Because I can't find a other env file. I read about this path on other forum problem tickets: /Users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Library/Preferences/Isotropix/Clarisse/clarisse.env

But this path does not exist, I can't find a Isotropix map on my computer,

Help would be much appreciated!

Hi,

No the env file of clarisse.app is not the one you have to edit. When you launch Clarisse, the first thing that Clarisse do, is to make the preferences so the Isotropix folder should be in the preference folder of your OS.

Run a terminal and do these steps:
Code: Select all
cd ~/Library/Preferences/Isotropix/Clarisse/3.0/

If there is no error, that mean that the folder exists!
Code: Select all
nano clarisse.env

Now you have access to the file and you can edit it. When you are done press CTRL+X and Y to say that you want to save changes. Restart Clarisse everything should work now.

Cheers,

The terminal says this:

-bash: /Users/jeffreyheuvel/Library/Preferences/Isotropix/Clarisse/3.0/: is a directory

But the funny thing is there is NO folder there! Like I checked a thousand times lol.

I don't understand it.
