how to make a shader library?

Unread postby olivierth » Tue Jun 25, 2019 6:34 pm

Hi!

Let's say I have a turntable/light rig to test out materals. How can I export/import the shaders into other scenes?

If I made a sand shader, do I simply put the shader and the texture in one context(folder) and export that context as project so I can import it in the other scene?

EDIT: After creating a few shaders, I noticed I can't export a shader as a project since I'm using the "personal learning edition". Is there a way to get shaders from one scene to another? Please, please, please!!

Hi
The PLE can export(save) it's own format which can not be mixed with the regular version.

For your question:
You can place all shaders and textures in a context then right click the context and save as reference.
This will make the content of the context a new file, automatically linked inside your open project.

There is no shader specific format as all things in clarisse are objects which can be saved out in a file with just that content , like a single color node for example.

I just tried right-Click on shader context -> Reference -> Export Context...

I get an error message when clicking Save: Exporting Context is restricted in PLE mode.

So I guess there's no way to export on PLE...

AH!!

I opened another Clarisse and did a Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V in the other Clarisse. It works!

As a matter of fact you can not use the "Export context" option, because it would save out non PLE versions ..
But you could simply delete all stuff you do not need and then save the file.

After that you can reference back in that file !
