Exporting Materials from 3ds Max to Clarisse

Unread postby GraemeVR » Tue Oct 01, 2019 7:12 pm

I have a completed Archviz project I've imported from 3ds Max into Clarisse.

I have already added Substance Materials to the Max project inside Max, and now want to bring those materials into Clarisse.

What is the best workflow to do this? If I export the Max file as an Alembic will it not import the materials as well in Clarisse?

Im new to Clarisse so still learning the best workflow.

Do I have to manually add all my materials to Clarisse or ?

Anybody know if Substance Source files can be imported into Clarisse?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,

No, alembic doesn't handle materials

As textures exported from substance are always the same (albedo, roughness etc tec...) you can use a script that import and build automatically the materials inside Clarisse.

No, it's not possible

A good workflow will consist to have each material textureS in separate folders, make a script that look on the drive for folders containing those textures and import them in order to make materials.

You're welcome !

Don't hesitate to have a look in the scripting section, you'll find some handy code snippet.

Cheers ;)
