Exporting the Z Depth pass

Hello
I have a problem with exporting the Z Depth pass.
Z Depth rendering and perfect but export and red and black without nuance. Flats red and black.
I also have a problem with the AOV editor.
Some functions are grayed out, and I can not unblock them.

Hi,

Z-depth is encoded in the red channel and has high range values. So everything fine here. You should use a format that allows float 16/32 like exr, tiff... to save your render.

I guess you see your depth aov in black and white in the image view. That's why : https://clarissewiki.com/4.0/visual-hints.html

Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately I do not understand much, I tested all possible solutions (16/32 tiff black and white etc ...), the result is still unusable.
I have to miss something, but I do not know where.

Z-depth reflects how far is the object from the camera. In Clarisse, this value is encoded in units. If you have an object 5 units far from the camera, the value of the pixel will be 5.

If you need to make a fake haze with this pass you have to grade the values. In nuke, for example, create a shuffle, transform the Z to RGB then add a grade and set the maximum value you have in your image as the white point. You should have a black and white gradient.

I would just like to make an image Z Deph to work in photoshop.

Hello Kargall!
there's also another way in Clarisse to do a z-depth.
Create a z-depth texture. For that go to Texture/Utility there you find the z Depth. Now plug that into a matte material. Next add another 3d layer to your image. Choose screen blending mode for that layer and plug the matte material into the Override Material channel. In the z Depth node you have to switch the colors and chnage near and far mode to custom. All you have to do now is to set a near and far distance there to get the depth effect you want. This layer can be saved and used in PS without further tweaking.
