Hi

i have two materials, material_A and material_B.
material_A is imported from other software. and it have some maps.
material_B is custom. and it have no maps.
now, i want to copy all parameter from material_B to material_A except the parameter which have map of material_A.
i have two way for that, but thay are too slow.
1-copy and paste the parameter one by one by right click menu.
2-material_A--->"make instance of"--->material_B, then material_A--->"make local". but some parameter of material_A is not pasted, because some parameter of material_A is not default.
i want to have a way to do that fast.

3. copy/paste the material

There are no other ways.

You can use a script to do that as well. You'll be able to copy/paste the attributes you want

Scripting is difficult for me. I hope clarisse has these new features. My English is not very good, so I use the picture to show you my mind. I think the new feature in the picture will be very useful.


I will describe a workflow.
most of the time, i import a model_A with its material (material_A). material_A is not so perfect. i want to adjustment it fast. so my way is that copy all parameters of material_B to replace material_A. but the maps of material_A should not be replace. (material_B is a material of my material library)
if the new feature in the picture be build, material_A's parameters will be replaced fast.

if i link the maps of material_A to material_B, then link material_B to model_A, it will be tedious and slow. if model_A has a lot of shading group, i need to link material_B to model_A's shading group carefully.

Maybe you have a better way to solve the above problems, please tell me, thank you very much.

The simplest way, for now, is to write a little script. You can ask the community as well for tips.
