How to import Maya Selection Sets to Clarisse

Hi all,

I am new to this Forum, I would like to know how to import maya selection sets (geometry) to clarisse

Hi,

Do you mean shading groups ? To assign a material to polygon groups ?

hi,

Yes, something like that, I need to select some faces kind ( where we do not require to assign texture maps) and need to assign some shaders to Geo's i.e. Holdout or any other metrial...

Clarisse automatically imports shading groups if they were correctly exported. So if you are in Maya, make sure to tick "Export Material" when you export an obj and make sure to tick "Write Face Sets" if you export an alembic. If you work on another package you can have some hints on the discord server : https://discord.gg/he8QTvD

Then in Clarisse, you will access the shading groups of the selected object in the material linker widget.
