denoising LPE aovs

Unread postby jim204 » Sun Feb 16, 2020 9:40 pm

Hi,

I was testing out the optix denoiser, which seems to work on the final beauty image. But I was wondering how to use the denoiser on individual aovs, specifially LPE I have for each light my scene.

Is this supported?

Cheers,
Jim

Hello,

The denoiser is built to denoise beauty so if you denoised AOV you may have weird result but you can try.
For now to denoise an AOV the only way is to export your AOV as beauty (on an exr, jpg, png etc) and use the Cdenoise tool provided in the Clarisse installation folder.
CDenoiser doc : https://www.clarissewiki.com/4.0/using-cdenoise.html

Hope it helps,

Kevin

Thanks for the reply, once the render is complete, can the aovs be exported easily from clarisse? Or do you have to export the channels from a compositing package?

You can render your aovs in different files by enabling "Split Aovs In Separate Files" in the Clarisse Preferences in the "Input Output" category.
