I am experiencing high latency on the 3d View!

I have been trying to use Clarisse on multiple Processor Machines with a high number of cores. But the lag is unbearable!

Has someone had similar problems? Are there any settings for the nvidia control panel to solve this?

The systems I have tried so far:

IBM X3950 X6 8U Server with 8 Processors E7-8880-V2 @ 2,50-3,10GHz and 240 Cores!
Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000 - with the newest drivers. rev 440.
Windows Server 2016

HP Proliant 4U Server with 4 Processors E7-4780 @2,20-3,00GHz and 80 Cores
Nvidia Quadro P2000


Also tried different Graphic cards and with Windows Server 2016 and Ubuntu Linux on 3 different machines. Same issues. Is this a bug?

Does it has something to do with the many processors? Are there any BIOS Settings,that could influence this?

On the Nvidia 3d Settings, I`ve set threaded optimization to off with no avail.

Rendering works fine. Only the 3d View stutters.

Any help on this is really appreciated.

Does it lag just in the 3D view ?

Try to reduce the number, by one or two, of cores in the Clarisse Preferences > Evaluation > Max Core Count and let me know if it solves the issue.

I have just tried reducing the number of cores to just a very few (8) and the 3d view responds much better. But only in smooth mode. In Previz, of course it gets very slow, as it has only very few cores to evaluate. The imageview evaluates also with only so little cores.
I`ve tried cranking up the number of cores gradually. From 40 cores on, the View begins to lag noticeably. From 80 and on it gets impossible to work with. Can the core number for the evaluation be set different for the 3d View an the Image View?

Another thing I tried is to turn the refresh mode to 1/4 Resolution instead of fps based. Although I have set all the fps rates to 30 in the preferences. In 1/4 res it gets smoother. It seems to be something with the fps refresh mode.

Can the refresh rate be set to lower resolution modes than 1/4? This could be a workaround for the meantime.

Interesting... We never noticed 3D view fps drops with a lot of cores.

Do you use streamed map files ? If yes which format do you use for the streamed textures ?

Do you have displaced geometries in your project ?

When set to FPS driven, Clarisse reduces the quality of the 3D view when moving to stick to the frame rate you set in the preferences. So FPS driven mode is the quickest mode whatever you do in your scene.

following this thread. it aligns with some test of mine, where time was needed to fill up all threads in that thread count. in my case was cnode.
