Hello,

before creating an bug report I wanted to ask here in the forum, if somebody knows why group-content is lost when I unload (eye icon) and reload (eye icon again) an alembic reference? Is that on purpose?

Steps to reproduce:
Reference an alembic file.
Create a group and put a few objects from the alembic ref file in the group.
Unload the alembic ref using the eye icon next to the alembic file path. (see attached image)
Click the eye icon again to reload the alembic reference.
The group is empty.

I attached the clarisse scene and an alembic file.

Hope someone can help!

If you put manually objects in a group and then remove them from the project (by unloading the alembic), there are removed from the group. That's normal. If you want the group to be dynamic you should use rules.

Here is a project showing that. Just imagine that the context called "my_alembic" is your alembic reference...

thank you for your answer and the example scene!
Now I see clear, because I though the unloading of the alembic reference with the eye icon is only for temporary unloading, for example if you don´t need the geometry temporarily (like switching off a layer in the layer editor).
So good to know, If I don´t need something temorarily, I hide the geometry (strg+d) and if I want to reload a reference I use the reload button not the eye icon!
