RGB Displacement Maps from Houdini

Unread postby tom_tm » Sun Mar 01, 2020 4:57 pm

Hi,
how can I correctly use this RGB Displacement map exported from Houdini Extended Ocean Tools?
I get very strange results.

Thanks
Tom

Judging by the look of it there is not much wrong but it seems to be simply not a proper output.
Please verify what you actually write out, is really correct. Best explain how you exported the file, and show what it should look like.

To me this looks like a rather blurry, ground type displacement..
I did use houdinis ocean kit in the past as well and it worked perfectly fine, even with animated sequences for displacement and caustic maps.

Cheers
Kai

Hi mdkai,
yes you are right, I guess the output is wrong too since I found an example of RGB Displacement
following this link. It looks very good with this example.
https://docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display ... splacement

So I have to do some research about what I output.

Thanks Tom
