Hi!

This sounds stupid but I really haven't found any way to benefit from the foreground/background color setting
Manual says nothing about it and I have tried many ways but only thing I can do with it is to select a color or pick color from Clarisse Image/Texture etc. into it but how can I then use that color anywhere?

I thought that when I have color dialog open, I can apply the foreground color to it by clicking the foreground color button but actually it only opens new color dialog and hitting ok there does not affect the color I was adjusting (it only changes the foreground color).

So please tell me how can I use the foreground color in items' color attributes?

There must be some trick but I haven't figured it out

Do you talk about the Foreground / Background Sub pixel filter ?

You can use it as an input for textures. So you can have back and front plates for example.

I can change the colors easily but how to use the color on those two color buttons?

It's like in photoshop. You can switch FG/BG colors by clicking on the two little arrows button.

Yes I know that but let's say I have some green color in foreground color. Then I want to use that color in say some material basecolor.
I cannot find any way to actually use the current foreground color anywhere else than in the foreground color dialog

It can be stored to swatch and then used elsewhere but it cannot be that complicated
There is even function get_foreground_color() but it is not used anywhere in Clarisse Python code

I wanted to use it to transfer color from outside Clarisse but it's too complicated via store/use.
For this case, I found other solution, using opened color dialog and setting its color from script that reads clipboard.

But still the foreground/background color does not have much use if it really is that complicated to use

So basically, you'd like to access the toolbar FG & BG colors in the Color Dialog without using Store+Use, right?
The widget could indeed have 2 extra color fields showing the toolbar FG & BG colors, for easy re-use

Yes, something like that, otherwise the foreground/background color tool remains pretty much unused by me and obviously others as there is no discussion/manual for it (and of course no need currently as it only does what is obvious which is not much)
It shouldn't be too complicated to make it simply, e.g. shift-click on those buttons would set it to currently open color dialog's color. That way there is no need for any changes in UI, only one simple shortcut
