4.0 SP8 PLE - Optix denoiser ?

Unread postby Farnac » Fri Jul 17, 2020 11:37 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to use the optix denoiser for the first time but sadly in my scene nothing happen after I added it on the filter list of my layer.

My render is done at 100%, resolution multiplier : 100%, AA filter : box, AA filter size 1.0 px and the preview resolution is set to full resolution. My graphic card is a GTX880M.

Please, someone have an idea ?

Thanks ! :)

Does it work in the 3d view? If not check out the log and see if it shows any errors. If it is greyed out in the 3d view I think your card might be too old for it to work.

Thanks for you're reply.

You're right I checked in the log tab and finally I found the message :
"The GPU 0:GeForce GTX 880M does not support NVIDIA OptiX. OptiX is supported by GPUs with Maxwell or newer architecture.
OptiX features (GPU Accelerated 3D View and Denoiser) are disabled: no supported GPUs found."

Thanks for your help :)

Don't be too disappointed...its not that impressive despite the hype, unless you are really into watercolor filters.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwell_( ... chitecture)

Here is some info on what Nvidia GPUs are using Maxwell architecture

I don't find it as useful as Ambassador1, but you can live without it. Especially if you have a lot of cores.
