SpeedTree to Clarisse - Point cloud attributes

Unread postby Miroxs » Fri Sep 18, 2020 8:11 am

Hi guys!

Did someone try to import the speed tree "leaf reference" point cloud directly into clarisse scatter ? Speedtree has a nice setting that exports alembic point clouds with attributes. This is like made for leaf scattering inside clarisse. Problem is, that it exports the "transform" attribute which is 9floats(matrix3). will be nice connect this point cloud directly into clarisse and not go thru houdini and convert it into matrix4 (it work this way)

I tested taking this point cloud and importing it directly, but not close at all. Then I put it tru houdini and it worked as in the tutorial (after conversion matrix3>matrix4). Maybe I am missing something but it would be nice to skip the houdini part ( because it slows down the process significantly) and use point cloud directly in clarisse.

Hi,

I'm curious. Could you share this point cloud maybe ?

Thanks

yes, sure. There is alembic directly exported from the speed tree. You can see all attributes like id or transform after open in clarisse or houdini. Houdini works that way, that if you plug this point cloud into the "copy to points" node, you get directly the same result as in speedtree. Of course you need to have correct leaf orientation.
