Hi,

load the first frame with File > Reference. Select your alembic, go to your attribute editor and replace the filename by :
E:\project\FX\alembic_liquid_surface\alembic_liquid_surface.v0.-$F.abc

In case you have a padding like 0001, 0002, ... , 1000, 1001 ... you need to put $4F instead of $F.

$F means you are replacing this variable by the current frame number of your timeline.
In your screenshot apparently you are on frame 1.
In this case You try to load abc.1.abc when your sequence of alembic start at 1001, it's why you don't have anything on screen.

Sure you can send us your file but I notice 2 things on your screenshot :
- apparently you have a space between $ and 4
- also your abc files are 3ko big. Are you sure there is something in it ?

It's working for me and when I scrub the timeline between 1001 and 1050 I can see the box moving.

Remove the " " and be sure you don't have space.
