Triplanar Projection - Switch off input

Unread postby machieb » Tue Aug 16, 2022 10:31 am

Hello,

is it possible to switch off inputs of the triplanar projection?
If I only want to project from top and right, how can I achieve that, because on the other sides I get the colors from the other input slots of the triplanar node.
It would be great if there where a planar projection node.
In Angie there are such nodes (projection_planar).

The blend mode of the triplanar is for displacements often to small for our needs, is it possible to get beyond 100%?

Thanks Marcus

Hi, you cant "switch off" the inputs, but you can project textures directly from the (streaming) Map file texture (Planar, camera, cubic...) and blend them how you want?

Hello Lucas, thanks for your answer!

I know, that in the map file texture there are the projection methods, but if we blend lots of stuff together, we then have to switch every projection method in the map file texture to planar. With a planar projection node or the triplanar node, where we could switch of some inputs, we would be much faster.

Ok I think I start to see. I believe you can have a setup where you instantiate your map files and make it a bit "procedural".
Don t hesitate to give more details if you want me to take a shot at a setup !

Is it somehow possible to to get the triplanar blend parameter higher than 100%? With displacements we have the problem that the blend gradient is too small. It would be great to get a bigger blend gradient.
