Clarisse Testing

Unread postby yonderbean » Mon Nov 07, 2016 4:08 pm

I've switched to Clarisse from Modo for laying out and rendering complex scenes. There's no going back. I've been setting up various vegetation assets in Clarisse and I wanted to the limitations. Seems the only limitation is the amount of RAM. This scene reached over 20 trillion primitives before my 64 gigs of RAM was not enough for the point clouds. The vegetation are mostly from Evermotion sets. No low poly here - many of the trees are over 500 megs. Its a fractal noise-displaced 8km x 8km polygrid that extends well beyond the render frame.

In a future not so far away, I see counting polygons becoming a thing from the past.

Every time I see "trillions" in Clarisse, its like sweet candy.

Isotropix is challenging the Poly counters to let go and live life at its full! :D

Great work.

Do you have it bigger?

Would love to see those details.

Pfft, talk to me when you hit Quadrillion...haha kidding, nice stuff, yes, much better than modo for heavy repl scenes for sure.

so good to see your work here! Was wondering when you would do the switch, Clarisse seems like a perfect fit for your work.

Hi,
these are awesome, and I`ve seen the Hypernurnia and other images on your homepage. Those are very beautyful! Incredible details as well as the colours. Your drawings are also awesome. I would be happy if there would be an interview with you as with Kelly Richardson here.

Cheers

Thanks everyone!
Yes, I wish I'd turned to Clarisse sooner for this sort of thing. Its awesome. I still have a lot to learn about the shading system and layer system, but I'll get there. Meanwhile I'll post further tests here.
