First test-renderings after alembic export from octane in lightwave.
Everything worked first try, except vertex-normal maps seem to be broken or not available in the alembic file, but they are enabled by default in Clarisse.

is this the same shot?
Was it easy to use it as a LightWave Alembic exporter? Do you know if it works with fiberfx?

Yes its the same shot, but just a little part of it. The whole scene consists of 2 buildings within a research facility with 4 high power laser experiments completely built from original plans. 15.000 independant instanced objects everything from screws, bolts, trees, etc ..
The export was very easy and straight forward. Everything which is rendered by octane can be written into an alembic file instead of the graphic cards memory. One drawback is that at the moment is that the object names of the lightwave scene are lost. All items in the alembic file are name like mesh_1 mesh_2, etc. The developer of the octance lw plugins promised to take a look into this issue.
I dont think that fiberfx is supported by octane, thus it wount be in the alembic file, but the guides are simple 2 point polys which should be in the file.

Thanks for the info. It looks like a fun project :)
For fiberfx, I meant the guides. I wonder how they are translated as 2 point polys don't make sense for most 3d graphics apps. It would be cool if octaned translate them as (linear) curves.
