Did start a new little project, while waiting for 4.0
And since not many portraits are here why not make one.

So, simple Emily WIP render ..this is very WIP
.. much to do, like fixing SSS flags, skin hair, and much tweaks for the shader. Eyes will take the most time.
Naive 2 lights for debug, also i see if i can keep things as original as possible without modding the original textures.

Input asset from the Human Wiki Emily 2.0 project.
Lets see how much i can push it when spending some more time.

i hope the final outcome will be kick ass there is a lot of people saying u can't get good character render in clarisse.

And would you agree ?

I think with modern technology in rendering it is less about if you can do it but rather how easy it is to achieve your goal so you can spend the time for things you like to tweak artistically..

Clarisse is similar to Arnold and other pathtracer ..it supports SSS in various ways, which is essential for tissue, teeth and other materials.

So why would it not offer good character rendering ?
At the end the artists is responsible for the outcome, software is just a tool.
I choose this exactly because of this , many artists did work with the asset in many renders and I'd like to see one with clarisse.

I also will provide my finished scene and setup if desired

i think mostly people say that hair rendering is not good. but i did few test. and it seams render tottaly fine!

great, may I ask if you use the standard material or the new principle shader for her skin?

At the moment it is setup with the regular standard material, not the Disney principle or the separate SSS shader.

I may create variations with other shader.
Unfortunately I'm currently sick and can't do much at the moment
