Knowing Maya or other pachakes necessary?

Unread postby imanjp » Mon Apr 13, 2020 3:49 am

Hello,

Sorry if I am asking a silly question, but I am wondering if knowing Maya or any other 3D packages is necessary.
I am very keen to learn Clarisse. I have strong background in compositing as well as superficial knowledge of CG.

Thank you.

How deep do you want to dive? You can swim in a nice ocean with nothing, but if you want to explore the Titanic you need more things.

To learn, I highly recommend you start learning Clarisse iFX by simply downloading free assets from places like Sketchfab, Kitbash3d, Megascans. With these you can produce some incredibly nice results.

Thanks Esmith,
I want to dig in and learn it profoundly.
Sure I will do so as you mentioned. Any tutorial you would suggest?

Hi there,

Clarisse is a scene assembly package. You must bring assets/geometries that have been created in other software. If you never used any 3D modeling packages or 3D DCCs then you will have a hard time working with Clarisse.

I was wondering something similar, I was wondering if some of the nodes are in Clarisse because they are in other apps, and if it might be useful to read more about those nodes and uses in other apps like houdini, obviously some nodes are generic math stuff but even many of those dont come with ideas on how to use them.

While Max/Maya/C4D etc... have quite a lot of similarities, Clarisse's workflow is quite unique. In the same way, Houdini has a very unique workflow too when compared to all other packages including Clarisse.
