New LWO format

Unread postby Asticles » Mon Jun 11, 2018 8:14 pm

Hi all,

Are there any plans to have support for new LWO format?

I work with Lightwave and exporting on evey change to the old is a mess.

Thanks

Hi,

we are not planning on supporting the new LWO format. We will stick to Alembic and, in the near future USD ;)
Cheers,

This is unfortunate news.
Lightwave's handling of Alembic is not great and it may be years before LW devs even look at USD.
For most things, LW2018 is very good but I would rather not duplicate my geometry files as lwo2 or obj.

Sorry, bbuxton

What problems have you encountered with alembic export and LW?

I'm considering start working with lw-clarisse pipeline and not sure about what is the best way, because my current blender-clarisse is really slow, since blender is much much slower than LW exporting alembic.

Best regards.
