Export geometry created in Clarisse

Unread postby Rvdn » Tue Jul 03, 2018 1:05 pm

Hello,

I'm having some issues trying to export some simple boxes I created on Clarisse, either as ABC or OBJ. Importing it in Maya results in empty groups or nothing at all.
Is it not possible to export geometry created in Clarisse ?

Thanks

Hi,

The Box in Clarisse is an implicit geometry. You can't export it. The only primitives you can export from Clarisse are the polygrid and the polysphere.

Cheers ;)

Thanks again for the quick reply
That's what I was affraid to hear :(. I used the clone stamp 3D to "scatter" them, and not the usual point cloud process. Do I have a way to replace thoses boxes by another geometry after placing them with the clone stamp, to avoid having to start it back from scratch ?

You can do that with a script. But if you export a context which contains all your implicit box as alembic you can retrieve the matrix of all your instances.

Put all your instances in a context.
Select the context in the left column of the browser.
Then go to File > Export > Export context as Alembic

Then if you import this alembic in your DCC package you should retrieve the matrix of all your objects.

PS : Next time make sure to test your micro pipe before doing a long task ;)

Cheers !
