Question about a FMX 2018 tutorial

Unread postby gerdhofer » Thu Mar 14, 2019 6:33 pm

In the tutorial "Going beyond with Clarisse: Pushing the Limits", which is excellent by the way, the tutor talks about using a point cloud to scatter ivy leaves and apply random colours. I was just wondering where this point cloud is actually coming from? The whole ivy model looks as if it was made with the "Ivy Grower" plugin, but I can't remember that there's an option to generate those points.

And since this topic is somehow about FMX: is Isotropix going to attend FMX in 2019? The tutorials made me very curious and I'd appreciate to see you guys live.

Thank you very much,
Gerd

Hi Gerd,

Quickly regarding the FMX, we won't attend to it this year.

Hi,

To create the points, a "one poly per leaves" mesh was exported from Max. Then a simple point cloud with "Primitive Center" distribution did the job.

Cheers :)

Thanks both Sam and Démain.

I'm not on 3ds, but from your description I have an idea how to create at least something very similar in my 3d app.

Too bad that you won't be going to FMX this year.Would have been great to join your presentations. Hoping for 2020 then.

The point is to export a very light mesh instead of exporting full leaves and use the instancing power of Clarisse ;)

Yes, it's fantastic to have full control over the leaf instances with this method 8-)
